OVERVIEW

Vancouver Pride Society organises the Vancouver Pride Festival every year and needed to refresh the graphics and imagery surrounding the event. This was a response submitted to them.

Canada is a nation that celebrates diversity. Multiculturalism is indeed a cultural norm in many, if not all, parts of Canada. This is the essence that makes Canada the beautiful, robust country that it is. However, cultural diversity comes with the inevitable baggage of clashing moral values. Canada has made great progress in gay rights issues and we are now in an era where homosexuality is significantly less of a stigma than in years past. While I am confident that many young immigrants like myself share the mindset that homosexuality is not abnormal, I know for a fact that many of the older immigrants believe it to be otherwise. While there could be any number of reasons for this, I believe that the main one is due to lack of exposure and education in their native countries. And this was the premise I built the new theme from; one that celebrated Vancouver.
