OVERVIEW

Gold08 is the 2008 edition of Laplink Gold. A former best-selling product for the company, sales of Laplink Gold was suffering from increasing competition and poor retail shelf presence. To help pique interest, it was decided that Laplink Gold would be rebranded as Gold08, with with a complete design overhaul of the software packaging to follow.

CREATIVE

The intent of the original software packaging was unfocused, with no clear indication of what the software actually does. Gold08 performs 3 main functions: remote control, file transfer and synchronisation. These 3 functions are now prominently featured in the design. The original software box also suffered from too many callouts, ultimately resulting in a design that is clutter, and thus became ineffective. For the new packaging, all unnecessary information have been stripped, creating a clean box that is visually appealing to entice potential buyers, yet still contained sufficient information to convince even casual browsers. Deliverables include all graphics for the software box, the Installer CD, rebates, datasheets, case studies and quick start guide.
